Beat Route Music
A Community Music Project For Young People
in North Glasgow

Background info (why this project, how did it come about) etc.) Born from the ashes of a Community Education youth music project which
started in July 1992, Beat Route Music was born in September 2004 and is now a registered charity
Members/Young People (ages, gender, where from etc) Club members come mainly from the Springburn area. Between 15-30 young people attend regularly, with
a good mix of girls and boys within the 10-19 years age group.
Facilities The group meets from 7-9pm. every Monday and on Wednesdays from 6-8pm.
(except for public holidays) in Barmulloch Community Centre. 46 Wallacewell Quadrant, Barmulloch, Glasgow. G21 3PX
The sessions provide tuition in and access
to guitars, bass guitar, keyboards, drums, violin, mandolin, alto saxophone and vocals.
Gigs Beatroute members have performed at Dialogue Youth events in
the Science Centre, the Thistle Hotel in Glasgow, incuding the Sighthill International Festival and Springburn/ Milton
Fun Days. More recently two of our bands Cheap Deal and The Blossom perfomed at the Big Stage during
Winterfest in Glasgow's George Square.
Recording
Studio Beat
Route, with the aid of grant assistance from Children In Need and Glasgow City Council, has built a recording studio
within Balornock East Youth Centre 285 Wallacewell Road. Glasgow. G21 3RP 0141 558 1387
The Plan Ahead To provide young people with regular
access to musical instruments, music tuition in a safe & friendly environment.
That Beatroute members will continue to be able to record
their music in the creative environment of the Beatroute recording studio.

The main issue is the constant need to find
grant monies to sustain the project.
